1931 Publication of 'Veterinari Dermatologie' by Frantisek Kral (Frank Kral) at Brno, Czechoslovakia
1948 Frank Kral emigrated to the US and joined the faculty of the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He formed the Veterinary Dermatology Clinic, which was the first teaching unit of skin diseases for animals in the United States.
1953 Publication of Veterinary Dermatology by Frank Kral and Benjamin J. Novak, first veterinary dermatology book in English: a complete revision, expansion and translation of Kral's 1931 book (325 pages)
1958  Formation of the Dermatology Subcommmittee of the Committee on General Medicine of the American Animal Hospital Association on April 23, 1958. R. W. Worley and G. H. Muller, Cochairmen; first organization of veterinary dermatology
1959 R. M. Schwartzman obtains the first PhD degree in Veterinary Dermatology and shortly thereafter joins F. Kral's veterinary dermatology section at the University of Pennsylvania

1969 Publication of Small Animal Dermatology by GH Muller, and RW Kirk: the first complete textbook devoted exclusively to skin diseases of dogs and cats. Used as a textbook by many schools of veterinary medicine. Translated into Japanese and French and reprinted in Taiwan 
1970 Formation of an organizing committee of the American College of Veterinary Dermatologists consisting of J. C. Blakemore, Conroy, Muller, Schwartzmann, Kirk and Kral

1982 The American Board of Veterinary Specialists of the AVMA granted probationary approval to the American College of Veterinary Dermatology as a certifying body in Veterinary Dermatology. This group replaces the Dermatology Specialty Group of the ACVIM. The organizing committee of the ACVD consists of JC Blakemore, JC Conroy, REW Halliwell, GH Muller and E Small
1982 Formation of a German veterinary dermatology organization called the Freundeskreis Hautkrankheiten interessierter Tierärzte. Founding members are H Koch, B. Beardi, G Feslex, H Gehrig, G Kasa, F Kasa GH Muller and C Terling. The first meeting was held at Birkenfeld. The name of the organization was later changed to Arbeitskreis Veterinärdermatologie

1984 Formation of an Australian veterinary dermatology organization began: started informally that year under the auspices of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists. It granted full fellowship by examination in veterinary dermatology to KV Mason
