Science Week Dermatology Stream Gold Coast 7 July to 8 July, 2017

The Dermatology Science Week meeting for 2017 has an exciting array of esteemed speakers that will appeal to dermatology specialists and veterinarians working in general practice with an interest in Dermatology.

The overall theme is Infectious Dermatoses

On Friday there is a focus on methicillin-resistant Staphylococcal species. Speakers include:

Dr. Kate Worthing from University of Sydney undertaking a PhD on antimicrobial resistance currently with Jacqui Norris
Dr. Vanessa Schmidt, a Veterinary Dermatologist who trained and completed a PhD on antimicrobial resistance in the UK
Two Australian dermatologists, Dr. John Hutt from Qld, and Dr. David Robson from Victoria to briefly update their local data
There will also be a round-table discussion forum on MRSP, and a....

Final session on fungal and protethecal skin diseases by Dr. Richard Malik, which will no doubt be informative and interactive!
Saturday brings some new and very esteemed speakers:

Dr. Richard Squires is an internal medicine specialist from the UK with a wealth of experience in infectious diseases, that now works in JCU in QLD, and will talk on the potential role of bacteriophage therapy considering recent trends in antibacterial resistance
Dr. John Munday from Massey University in NZ is an esteemed pathologist with a special interest and expertise in viral infections that induce cancers, and will present updates on papillomaviruses in dogs and cats
These talks will be complemented by some very practical sessions on dermatology therapeutics, with Vanessa Schmidt introducing treatment options for resistant otitis, and dermatologic therapy with oclacitinib, and each talk will be followed by a round table discussion amongst attendees to share experiences between the Australian, NZ, and UK Dermatologists.

It is sure to be an informative and exciting Dermatology Meeting, with loads of relevant information for dermatologist and general practitioners alike.
